In 1881, after witnessing the gunning down of Nochaydelklinne, a full-fledged prophet in Cibeque, AZ on the White Mountain Apache Reservation, Geronimo led his warriors eastward and crossed the Black River into Victorio's camp.between Turkey and Eagle Creek. Victorio was granted to move away from the main body of Apache in San Carlos because of hostilities by Apache groups against the Chiricahuas. when warned of a possible attack by soldiers, Victorio and his band went east and Geronimo went south into Mexico.
