

"Lozen, was the sister of Victorio, Chief, of the Warm Springs Apache. The only woman who for forty years fought alongside Geronimo, Cochise, Nana, Mangus, Naiche, Loco and other great warriors in some of the bloodiest incidents of the Apache Wars. She fought at the Battle of Apache Pass, in Victorio’s struggle for his homeland, in the massacre at Cibecue, and throughout the Geronimo Campaigns.
A Supernatural power bestowed on her by the Creator, Lozen would lift her arms to the sky, place her hands against the wind, and through the warm sensations of the open palms could detect the direction and distance of her enemies. As she slowly turned, singing her song while following the direction of the sun, her hands tingled and the palms changed color when they pointed toward the foe. The intensity of the sensation indicated the approximate distance of the enemy, the closer the adversary, the more vivid the feeling. She also had power to calm and tame horses by her mere presence.

November 1, 2011-Two of my works; "Geronimo & Lozen’s Enemy-Against Ceremony” are being featured in the MY HERO Project, a not-for-profit, project based educational website that works with more than 40,000 classrooms WORLDwide in promoting the discussion of heroism. November 1st begins Native American Heritage month where this site is displaying a collection of art by Native American artists in the MY HERO Gallery. The website boasts visits in numbers exceeding 3Million hits per month.
November 1, 2011- A review panel from the Arizona Commission on the Arts selected “Apacheland” as one of twenty five artworks to be featured in this very special Centennial-year exhibition: Visions of Arizona. The artwork was curated from among a juried pool of 337 submissions originally destined for the Attorney General’s Office Exhibition.
Visions of Arizona will be on view on the 2nd Floor of the House of Representatives alongside legislative leadership offices and conference rooms. Many business leaders, prominent members of the community, and political leaders frequent the second floor. The exhibition provides an opportunity for those attending hearings and meetings at the legislature to become familiar with the work of selected
The exhibition will be featured for one year at the House of Representatives, from November 2011 to November 2012. All artwork labels will acknowledge the artist, and will include their home town, artwork title and a QR* code that links to the Arizona Art Alliance website, where visitors can access information about the exhibiting artists. *A QR Code is a matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by QR scanners, mobile phones with a camera, and smartphones.
In recognition of the Artists distinguished merit, the Arizona Commission on the Arts will co-host a reception at the House of Representatives in early 2012 to celebrate exhibiting artists in the company of State leaders.
June 30, 2011- I was accepted into the Oil Painter's of America organization. April 20, 2011-I Just received a call today to be informed of my acceptance into the Arizona Arts Alliance . I have envisioned becoming a part of this great organization to further my career as an artist. I think there are trememdous opportunities to be had here.
March-2011- I Just completed showing at the long anticipated 53rd Annual Heard Museum Guild Indian Market in Phoenix, AZ. I'm glad its over with. Looking forward to what else is in store for me. I have to kick myself for this but I missed the deadline to submit my payment for the 37th Annual Western Art Show & Sale in Prescott, AZ this year. I wasn't paying attention.
February-2011- After submitting my application to the Mesa Art League, I was informed of my acceptance into the League as a participating artist. I am now eligible to submit an application to become a member of the Arizona Arts Alliance, which I've already done. and participate in all their functions in Arizona and abroad.
August-2010- I am working on storyboards for the trailer of a feature film; N'de Apache, due to be released in 2012. The movie will be depicting the life story of Lozen, based on the book "Warrior Woman" by Peter Aleshire. Madrid Films & Entertainment and LionsGate are in the development phase of this production.
August 13, 2010- Collaborating with the Globe Miami Chamber of Commerce my painting “Apache Mother’s Love” was selected to be on a poster publicizing the 27th Annual Apache Day Celebration set for October 16, 2010. The painting depicts the pre-Reservation era when contact with the encroaching foreigners was far and few. The most trusted male guards of the camps accompanied any party of women, to stand guard at a distance and protect them from harm and danger. Nevertheless, danger ever existed for the People. One such incident is the Camp Grant Massacre on Sunday April 30, 1871 where a body of about 150 citizens of

This site is one piece of a multi-media public educational project, “Interpreting America’s Historic Places: Nature, Culture, and History at the Grand Canyon,” that includes a digital audio tour, walking tour brochure, and Travelin’ Trunks containing curriculum and classroom materials available to K-20 teachers around the country.
